OAKLAND – Kevin Durant will be off his feet for the next few days and weeks due to the partial MCL tear he sustained Tuesday night and has already received calls, texts and notes from well-wishers. But one card the Warriors forward received today forced him to evacuate his condo when he found a suspicious white powder inside and a note that read: “If you snort all of this into your nose, you will instantly get better. Do it and find out! Oh, and this is NOT FROM RUSSELL WESTBROOK.”
The injured Warrior immediately believed the envelope, delivered overnight from Oklahoma City, was actually sent by Westbrook.
“It included a P.S. that read: ‘How many triple-doubles do you have this year? I have 30,'” said Durant. “Also, Russell told me at the All-Star Game last week that he was going to murder me. So that raised some red flags, too.”
Oakland police say they are testing the powder found in the envelope and have contacted Westbrook to ask him questions. But the Thunder point guard claims he is innocent.
“The card said Not From Russell Westbrook, so I don’t even know why anyone is even asking me about this,” he said, mentioning a detail police had not yet made public. “And that left-handed writing in the card looks nothing like my regular writing.”
