CLEVELAND – The Cavaliers lost a big inside presence Monday night when new acquisition Andrew Bogut broke his leg just minutes into his Cleveland debut. But teammates say the team is still confident it can defend its NBA title without him in the lineup.

“A guy on our team broke his leg tonight? Who?” asked Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith. “Andrew what? Bockett? Bogut? I have honestly never heard that name in my life and I’m positive he’s not on the Cavaliers. I know almost everyone on the team.”

Smith then recited all the names of his teammates: “There’s LeBron, Kyrie, Tristan, Kyle Love, the old one, tall guy, Delly, Carmelo. Yeah, there’s no one named Andrew Blockit. Is this that fake news everyone is talking about?”

The veteran guard has been out of the lineup since late December with a thumb injury and was therefore not on the court during Bogut’s 1-minute Cavaliers career, but it still would be assumed that he was aware his team recently added the former No. 1 overall pick to the roster.

“I don’t know if he’s trolling or just doesn’t pay attention sometimes,” said Cavaliers star LeBron James. “What I do know is he’s not dumb. I know what dumb is. We’ve got a guy on this team who thinks the earth is flat. J.R. on his worst day is a genius compared to that.”
