ATLANTA – The feud between NBA on TNT personality Shaquille O’Neal and Golden State Warriors center JaVale McGee is over, this according to an order delivered to Shaq by network executives.
“It was fun for a while,” said Turner Sports president Lenny Daniels. “But it has continued to escalate to the point where I think we’re really risking Shaq recording a diss track and I really don’t think anyone wants to hear that. There is enough bad music in the world as it is without adding to it.”
O’Neal has featured McGee’s on-court mistakes frequently in his “Shaqtin’ A Fool” segment, a running “joke” that has increasingly grown tired and personal, leading to McGee firing back at the former NBA center and the feud spilling over to social media. The Hall of Famer had reportedly told staffer at TNT that he already a few lines written about JaVale.
“JaVale rhymes with fail,” the lyrics supposedly went. “McGee is … poo and pee.”
“That’s all he had so far,” said the TNT staffer. “That took him four months.”
McGee himself said he is happy to let the dispute end just to spare the world from O’Neal creating something.
“We’ve all seen him rap and act and try to be an analyst and appear in commercials,” said the Warriors big man. “You can only feel bad for the guy after a while. People only put up with him and pretend he’s entertaining and funny because he’s famous and big. He doesn’t know that, though. But I’m happy to do my part to save him from further public humiliation. I might not be a Hall of Famer, but I am a nice guy.”
