(SP) – The wife of quarterback Kevin Hogan held a press conference today and tearfully pleaded that the Cleveland Browns release her husband and allow him to come home. The request comes just one day after it was announced that the Browns named Hogan their new starting quarterback.

“Please, I beg you, please release my husband,” said Karen Hogan, wiping tears from here eyes. “He loves football. Don’t do this to him. Please. Don’t make him a Browns starter. Let him have a future.”

Mrs. Hogan then buried her face in her attorney’s shoulder, before continuing to speak into the microphones again.

“I know in your own way, you think you are doing something good for him,” said Mrs. Hogan. “But, please, think about what you are doing. Think about the consequences. You are ruining a man’s career. Please just let him come home. That’s all I ask.”

The Browns announced Hogan would be their new starter after rookie DeShone Kizer struggled in recent weeks, making him just the latest in a long line of quarterbacks the team has churned through. The team announced the move by releasing a statement written by cutting individuals letters out of magazine headlines and pasting them onto a paper.

“kEvIN HOgAn iS our StARteR noW,” read the Browns release. “GivE us a GOod qB or wE wiLl RuIN hiS CarEeR.”
