(SP) – Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield received some criticism on Saturday for repeatedly taunting the Kansas Jayhawks football team, but Kansas excused Mayfield today by issuing an apology for their “decades of actions (and inactions)” that led to a “much-deserved dragging.”

“We are a massive embarrassment to the sport of football and a huge punchline — and have been for as long as anyone can remember,” said Kansas athletic director Sheahon Zenger. “Baker Mayfield should not be criticized for laughing at us. It is our fault we are so pathetic. We deserve any and all amounts of ridicule we get. We are a joke and that’s on us.”

Mayfield said he appreciated Kansas’ apology and that it will relieve some of the attention from the national media that his actions brought about.

“Kansas is much better at apologies and accepting responsibility than they are at football, a sport at which they so greatly suck ass,” he said in a statement. “Also, please know that I am grabbing my dick while writing this statement, but it unfortunately isn’t easily conveyed via written word.”

Mayfield also had his statement delivered to the Kansas’ football office, along with a flaming bag of dog feces.

Kansas head football coach David Beaty did, however, say that maybe Mayfield is deserving of some ridicule: “He only threw for three touchdowns against Kansas? I’m sorry, but that is not at all impressive.”
