(SP) – The New York Giants and Odell Beckham, Jr., have come to terms on a deal that will see the star receiver participate in the team’s mandatory minicamp this week, ending speculation that he would hold out over a contract dispute.
“We’re very happy to be able to work something out,” said general manager Jerry Reese. “It’s about compromise in these kinds of situations and we we met halfway.”
Reese then stated that the two sides literally will meet halfway, with Beckham taking his yacht from Miami north to Bermuda and the Giants bringing their mincamp to the deck of the boat.
“I’m not sure how much actual football work we’ll get in,” said head coach Ben McAdoo. “His yacht isn’t as big as a football field, but it will be nice to just hang out as a team. Maybe Eli can throw some balls into the ocean. It will make him feel more confident in his accuracy.”
Beckham said he doesn’t plan to do any football activities on the yacht.
“We’re running out of cognac on board and they said they’d bring some more down,” said the receiver. “I do football stuff during the season on Sundays. This is the offseason and it’s not Sunday. Or maybe it is. I honestly have no idea what day it is. I’m just having fun.”
