(SP) – NBA center Enes Kanter issued a plea to the international community, asking to be saved from being forced to live and work in the state of Oklahoma through the 2019 basketball season.
“Without some sort of intervention, I will be forced to stay in a barren hellscape,” said Kanter. “Please save me. Please help me have a better life away from these people. I don’t deserve this.”
Kanter said he was sent against his will to Oklahoma in February of 2015, where he has been forced to work ever since. In July of that year he tried to escape to Portland, Oregon, but was kept in Oklahoma at the last minute. Earlier this year he became so upset about his fate of living in a “flat, desolate land where gas and fire shoots from the ground,” that he broke his arm punching a chair.
The 25-year old said he will happily go anywhere else.
“Turkey, Romania … anywhere. Just please, not Oklahoma,” he said. “Well, not Oklahoma and the Knicks. But anywhere else would be great.”
