(SP) – Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone earlier in his team’s loss on Sunday. The team believes he could be lost for the season, but the quarterback has instructed the organization to inform his parents and brother that he is dead.
“Aaron is obviously very disappointed about his injury,” Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said after the game. “But he does see it as a big opportunity. An opportunity to fake his death to his family so he never has to see them again.”
The quarterback has requested that pictures of him being carted off the field be mailed to his immediate family. He has also instructed the Packers PR staff to write up a fake obituary for him.
The team said there is an outside chance that Rodgers will return this year. But, if he does, it will be under an alias.
“Aaron Rodgers is dead and his family should never contact him,” said team president Ted Thompson. “That said, we hope that Andy Rogers can return before the end of the season.”
