TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Crimson Tide fell short of winning their fifth national championship in eight years against Clemson, but the Tide are already reloading in preparation for winning their next title by signing college football’s first-ever 6-star recruit.
Saban announced he received a commitment this morning from 6-foot-9, 300-pound running back John Rogers from Coral Gables, Florida, an 18 year-old recruit who can run a 3.7 40, has the ability to fly and can also heal instantly from wounds, including regrowing limbs.
“John is a fine young man and we obviously think he has a lot of upside running the ball and also flying over the field directly into the endzone,” said Saban. “He’ll be here in the fall looking to compete for a spot. But, of course, I don’t make anyone any promises about playing as a freshman.”
While primarily playing running back in high school, where he averaged 875 yards and 9 TDs per game, Rogers can also throw a football over 200 yards and had 375 tackles for loss as a senior while playing linebacker. But he is not the the only 6-star recruit Saban has his eyes on.
“There’s another 6-star recruit that we have been talking to,” said the coach. “Not too many people know about him, though, due to the fact that he has the power of invisibility. But we really like his potential as a safety and receiver.”
