(SP) – According to a source that made it very clear we could not say that it’s Lavar Ball, there is a very good chance that the 48-year old father of draft prospect Lonzo Ball will be selected early in this month’s NBA Draft.
“Teams have heard about how he was better than Michael Jordan and figure he still has some tread left on his tires since he’s younger than Jordan, too,” said the source. “Any team that takes Lavar Ball in the first five picks will be very happy. But they can’t let him fall any farther than that or they’re really taking a huge risk.”
The source then added: “Not right now, Lonzo! I’m on the phone with a reporter!”
Ball played one season at Washington State in 1988 and averaged 2.2 points per game in 26 games, but the source says that he has sources in the NBA scouting community who “feel strongly that Ball was ‘too good’ for the college game and so his game didn’t translate well there.”
“They think he’ll average closer to 32.2 points per game in the NBA,” said the source who, again, is not to be inferred was Lavar Ball. “That’s one extra point per game per years he hasn’t played competitive basketball.”
