(SP) – Former Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully is three weeks into his first baseball season in 67 years without being in the broadcast booth — and the 89-year old legend says he is having the time of his life.
“I loved baseball, but I should have retired long ago,” he said. “As great as a perfectly executed 6-4-3 double play is, it’s nothing compared to day after day of titties and weed.”
Scully says that while his normal days used to begin with reading the Los Angeles Times and various other national newspapers for material he could use in calling games, the only paper he touches in the morning now is to roll a joint.
“I’m high from morning to night,” said Scully. “And it’s amazing. The fact that I waited 89 years to hit this shit is as depressing as hell, but I’m going to make the most of the time I still have.”
When not smoking weed — and sometimes even when he is — the Hall of Fame broadcaster says he’s “hitting anything that moves.”
“Let’s say that a man of my fame and wealth can have a lot of fun in Los Angeles,” said Scully. “I’m talking two, three, four girls a night. And they love it when I give dirty play-by-play.”
Due to his busy retirement, Scully says he hasn’t kept up much with how the Dodgers are doing in his absence.
“My life is dope as hell now and watching baseball for three hours doesn’t really fit my day-to-day,” said Scully. “But let the boys know that if any of them want to get high with Vinny Sculls, come on over. I got the good shit.”
