(SP) – Tiger Woods announced he underwent another surgery today, keeping up the furious surgery pace that has put him within striking distance of the all-time surgery mark for a single human.
“Even as my golf career essentially ended over the last few years, my competitive drive never waned,” Woods posted on his website, announcing the latest procedure. “I started looking around for other challenges off the court and found I could take a run at the all-time surgeries mark. I just need 13 more and I’m there.”
Currently at 117 surgeries, 116 of those coming in the last 24 months, Woods is nearing the record of 130 held by a weak British child, the face of the late pop star Michael Jackson and several Philadelphia 76ers players. Woods says that while doctors have told him that swinging a golf club even once could cause his spine to explode, tear through his back and go spiraling through the air, he plans to continue playing.
“If I don’t get hurt again, I can’t get more surgeries,” he said. “But, on the other hand, if I don’t get hurt again, maybe I can win some golf tournaments. It’s a no-lose situation for me. I haven’t been this excited in a long time.”
Woods then ended his post, saying he needed to take pain medication due to the fact that his body is no little more than an incision wound with eye balls.
