(SP) – New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is facing two weeks of grounding for his apparent role in selling memorabilia fraudulently described as “game-used.” The punishment is an agreement between NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Manning’s mom, Olivia.
“It doesn’t matter if he actually did it or not,” said Mrs. Manning. “The fact that he even put himself in this situation to get linked to it is bad enough. I tell him all the time not to hang around with bad friends.”
Manning has been accused in court documents of sending an incriminating e-mail that agreed to giving knowingly false memorabilia to collectors.
“To start with, Eli is not to use the Internet without supervision,” said Mrs. Manning. “He’s in trouble just for that alone, regardless of the content of the e-mail. I am very disappointed in him. If he’s doing this, I have no idea what else he might be mixed up in. Music with curse words, looking at the women’s swimsuits section of the Sears catalog. Who knows.”
In addition to the two weeks of grounding, Eli will also not be allowed to watch television after 8:00 p.m. or have dessert.
“Dawwwwwww,” said Eli.
