(SP) – While watching the Masters during a visit with his parents, 23-year-old Alex Porter was surprised when his mother gasped upon seeing Fred Couples appear on the screen.
“Oh, wow, Freddy still looks great, doesn’t he? He’s barely aged a day in, what, twenty-five years?”
As the coverage lingered on Couples discussing strategy with his caddy on the tee box of the par 3 12th hole, Porter’s mother offered further cryptic hints.
“I mean, I’d just met your dad, of course…anyway. It’s good to see him. He was amazing before that back injury back in ‘94. Let’s just say it was obvious why they called him Boom Boom.”
At press time, an ashen Porter had almost managed to convince himself his mother was talking about nothing more than golf, while Couples had hit 8-iron into the front greenside bunker.
