BROOKLYN – The Brooklyn Nets hosted the Dallas Mavericks at home on Sunday and may or may not have rested their best players for the game, according to conflicting reports.
“I got free tickets and I’ve never been to a Nets game before,” said one fan. “So I’m no expert on the team. But their starting lineup was Jeremy Lin, Randy Foye, Brook Lopez, Caris Levert and someone called Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. Those all have to be backups, right? Their good players are resting?”
However, a review of the Brooklyn box score revealed that only Trevor Booker and Justin Hamilton did not enter the game.
“Hmm. I’ve never heard of these people, so they can’t be stars,” said another person for some reason in attendance at the game. “Could it be that the people on the court are actually the Nets’ best players? Wow. That’s … wow.”
After the Nets released their starting lineup for today’s game, they reportedly received a call from the league office expressing disappointment with the team on the court.
“They weren’t happy,” said Nets general manager Sean Marks. “They said that we are a professional basketball team and that we have a responsibility to put out a team composed of professional basketball players. Ridiculous. I have no idea why they are complaining about it now. This organization has had teams like this for decades. Now it’s suddenly a problem?”
