MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Vikings have announced they will not exercise their contract option on Adrian Peterson for 2017, possibly ending the running back’s NFL career. However, your friend Tim is still reportedly likely to take the 32-year old running back with his 1st Round pick in your late August fantasy draft.
“Look, if A.P. is available when you draft, you take him,” says Tim. “That’s Fantasy Football 101 since the beginning. I don’t want to be kicking myself when some NFL team picks him up in late September and he runs for 2,000 yards. No way. If he’s available to be drafted, he’s mine. I’m not an idiot.”
Tim also picked Peterson in the 1st Round of the 2016 draft, one of the many terrible decisions that led to Tim’s last place finish in your league this year. But he believes getting the unemployed, past his prime running back will be the key to turning it all around in 2017.
“I’m all about getting guys as value picks who are primed to turn it around,” he said. “With Peterson last year, he had some injury problems, but he’s proven he can come back from those before. So I’m high on him, I like Carson Palmer’s prospects this year and I think Greg Jennings is an established receiver due for a big bounce back.”
Informed Jennings has been out of football for a year, Tim said: “I’m pretty sure that’s not correct. But, fine, if you say so, I’m happy to go with Roddy White then. He was big for me back in 2010 when I almost made the playoffs.”
Tim also announced today that he will keep the team name Vick In A Box, which he has had since the 2007 season.
“When you hit on a timeless classic, you stay with it,” said Tim. “Have to love that Andy Samberg, man.”
