(SP) – According to multiple reports, former Oklahoma Sooners running back Joe Mixon is just two rounds away from being a good kid who made one bad mistake and simply deserves a second chance with a franchise that will support him.
“I do think that if Joe Mixon is sitting there in the 3rd Round, and definitely if he’s still there in the 4th, that forgiveness is a very important thing,” said your team’s general manager. “I mean, isn’t Jesus all about forgiveness? If Joe Mixon is available in the 3rd Round, basically Jesus is telling us to draft him. Jesus. That’s a pretty big endorsement of Mixon’s character, in my opinion.”
Mixon is one of the highest-rated running back in the 2017 NFL Draft class, but an incident from 2014 in which he broke a woman’s face with a punch has caused many teams to back away from him for PR reasons. But once the first two rounds are over, Mixon should have plenty of suitors.
“If he is still there in the 3rd Round, he’s the best value pick in the draft,” said ESPN’s Mel Kiper. “Good teams are built through value picks. Mixon has the upside of an All-Pro running back and the only downside is the chance he might punch some of a team’s female fans. The reward far outweighs the risks there once the middle rounds begin.”
Your team’s fanbase is also reportedly warming to the idea of Mixon joining their favorite team.
“If one of our rivals draft Mixon, I’ll say it’s proof they’re a scumbag franchise,” said your friend Mike. “But if we get him, I’ll make the argument that 2014 is a long time ago and that we’ve all done things when we were 18 that we regret and that there are players in the league who have done far worse, so we should really get over it already it. However, if he doesn’t produce on the field, I’ll then demand that we cut his worthless, woman-punching ass.”
