(SP) – According to multiple reports, it would be extremely hilarious if Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension keeps getting pushed off to the point that the Cowboys are forced to play in the postseason or Super Bowl without their best player.

“I can confirm that I would laugh a lot about that,” said an NFL front office executive. “Like, a lot. His legal team wants to keep pushing the suspension off, but I don’t think they realize what they’re pushing it off to. Suspensions count for the playoff games. I don’t think these idiots realize that.”

While multiple sources said they don’t normally root for the Cowboys to make the playoffs, let alone the Super Bowl, they did confirm it would be so funny to see Elliott lose the last of his appeals right before the Super Bowl — thereby causing the Cowboys to surely get blown out in front of 100 million people.

“I honestly can’t think of anything funnier than that,” said a league source. “Imagine the look on Jerry Jones’ face, watching his hopes and dreams crash down as Alfred Morris gets all the carries. It would be the highest-rated Super Bowl of all-time. Watching the Cowboys get killed could be the one thing that brings this country together.”

A league source said that if Elliott’s suspension is cleared to start in Week 10, the NFL may actually decide to appeal that ruling to push it back to the point that it would run into the playoffs.

“We’re so close now to seeing them lose Zeke for the playoffs, that we just have to go for it,” said a league official. “We just want to have fun. Let us have this.”
