Throughout the NFL offseason there may be no action on the field but there is plenty in terms of player trades.

The NFL draft always attracts a lot of attention but player trades can often have a significant impact on the betting odds leading into a new NFL season. Even a rumor of a move for a player can see the betting odds of a team to win the Super Bowl change but is the potential switch by Aaron Rodgers to the Jets enough for them to finish the 2023 season as winners?

Aaron Rodgers Career

There has been plenty of speculation regarding the future of Aaron Rodgers in the NFL. The quarterback currently plays for the Green Bay Packers and is a four time NFL Most Valuable Player.

Rodgers won Super Bowl XLV and was named the MVP for that game, so he knows what it takes to win the biggest prize in the sport. Having entered the NFL draft in 2005, Rodgers was picked by the Packers, and has remained in Green Bay for the whole of his NFL career to date. There were strong rumors Rodgers was going to be the first pick for San Francisco 49ers in the 2005 draft, which was his team of choice but he dropped to the 24th overall pick.

In 2008, Rodgers completed a streak of 157 consecutive pass attempts without an interception, which was the third longest in the history of the franchise. Having won the Super Bowl in 2010, Rodgers was ranked 11th by the players on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2011. Ahead of the 2022 season, there were rumors Rodgers was going to retire or move to another team but instead, he stayed and played his 18th season with the Packers. Rodgers enjoyed an impressive season, ending with 3,695 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

Moving to the Jets

There were many reports of a possible move for Rodgers in 2022 and the stories have resurfaced again in 2023. However, this time it seems the rumors could be true and Rodgers himself has spoken of how he intends to trade from the Packers to the New York Jets.

The quarterback went on the Pat McAfee Show and made his intentions clear and although the trade has yet to be made official, it appears it will happen. Following the interview on the Pat McAfee Show, the odds for the Jets to win the next Super Bowl dropped from the previously high odds at BetMGM, who have been live in NY since 2022. The odds for the Jets to win the AFC Championship also improved and that underlines the impact the sportsbooks believe Rodgers could have on the Jets team.

Can Rodgers Win the Super Bowl with the Jets?

Rodgers will be arriving in New York with one aim and that is to win the Super Bowl with the Jets. The Jets have just one Super Bowl victory to their name and that came back in 1968. That is their one and only appearance in the Super Bowl and fans will be hoping that changes come the end of the 2023 season.

The Jets went 7-10 last season with a disappointing performance from their quarterbacks but they had one of the best defenses in the league. If the Rodgers of 2020 and 2021 turns up at the MetLife Stadium, the Jets have a chance of going all the way but if the performances of last season return, the season could end early for the Jets. It is worth noting Rodgers has not played in the Super Bowl since winning the championship in the 2010 season and he will turn 40 during the upcoming campaign. It is a big ask for Rodgers to turn up and take the Jets to the Super Bowl and the season could easily end in disappointment.
