Tony Dungy Hopeful Marvin Harrison At Least Shot a Gay
Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy spoke out for the first time today on Marvin Harrison being linked to a shooting in Philadelphia, saying he surprised and still gathering details, but hopeful that Harrison at least shot a homosexual.
“Until I know exactly what happened, I can’t make any judgments,” said Dungy. “And until then, I will remain supportive of Marvin. We simply don’t know what happened. I mean, maybe this guy tried to get all gay on him and Marvin had enough and shot him.”
A shooting outside the receiver’s Playmakers sports bar last week left one man with a gunshot wound to the hand. The bullet has reportedly been traced back to a custom Belgian handgun owned by Harrison.
“Good for Marvin for shooting him in the hand,” said Dungy. “If he would have shot him in the butt instead, the guy probably would have liked it. The gays like getting it in the butt, you know. And I find it despicable. That’s an exit-only area.”
Dungy says he is strict on that.
“If you take one to the crotch, that’s very virtuous and good,” said Dungy. “But a butt entry wound? Suspicious, to say the least. I wouldn’t take a guy on my team who got shot in the butt. For example, I would never have Joey Porter on my team. Not only did he get shot in the butt, but he likes to wear short shirts that show his abs. I don’t want to call him gay, but ... well, I doubt I’ll see him in heaven.”
As information is still filtering in on the shooting, Dungy says he will keep all of his options open.
“Let’s just say that it comes out that Marvin was in a gay relationship with this guy, and tried to shoot him so the guy wouldn’t talk,” said Dungy. “And don’t I haven’t thought about that possibility. I always have my Gaydar on. I think about gayness all day long. Anyway, if that were the case, we’d probably just have to cut Marvin from the team. You can contract AIDS from blocking and tackling, you know.”
